Dean Smith will be eager to make a statement at the weekend when Aston Villa face high-flying Derby County on Saturday.

Things are yet to truly spark into life since the former Brentford boss took over at Villa Park after Steve Bruce's sacking, with a record of two defeats and two wins in his opening four matches.

Both of the victories have come at Villa Park with both losses coming on the road, and with the Rams clash at Pride Park, he will need to find a way to put a stop to that habit.

Last week's 2-0 victory against Bolton Wanderers was probably the Villans' best performance of the season with the attack flowing freely and the defence standing firm.

Jack Grealish shone and proved that it is no coincidence that when he is at his best, the team are at their best.

But, there is always a chance that Smith will want to shake things up a bit.

So here is how Villa will most likely line-up at Pride Park on Saturday...

Despite his errors, it would be a surprise to see Nyland dropped.

The Norwegian has been far from good so far but it seems unnecessary to unsettle the defensive unit with a change of 'keeper.

Hutton will continue at right-back.

The Scot has done well enough this season to retain his spot.

Tuanzebe is really starting to impress.

Since moving to his favoured centre-back position he has looked more and more accomplished.

It would be mental for Smith to drop him.

Chester has been the subject of criticism this season at times, but will continue to start.

He is the captain and put in an impressive display against the Trotters last week. He seems to be forming a strong partnership with Tuanzebe as well.

Taylor remains the club's best option at left-back.

He is a solid defensive option as well as offering more going forward than his competitors for the role.

The sole defensive midfielder in Smith's 4-1-4-1 formation will be Bjarnason.

He offers great energy and his industrious attitude will be essential when up against the talent in the Derby attack.

Expect to see Yannick Bolasie finally make his first start for the club on the right wing.

The Everton loanee has impressed whenever he has played this season and with his return to full fitness should come a start against the Rams.

McGinn will most likely continue in an attacking midfield role.

He did well there alongside Grealish against Bolton and there is no real reason to move him for the clash with the Rams.

Grealish will, of course, be starting.

He played his best match of the season against Bolton and seemed to thrive in the more advanced role.

If Dean Smith can get the best out of him on a regular basis it could make all the difference.

Kodjia will most likely continue on the left.

Bruce played him there earlier in the season and he has adapted well to it.

Smith has persisted with the striker in that role and it has worked for him so far.

Abraham will, of course, be leading the line.

He has impressed since making the move in the summer.

He has four in ten, which is a very decent effort.
