Reading manager Jose Gomes knows that the Easter weekend fixtures away at Bristol City on Good Friday and at home to West Brom on Bank Holiday Monday, will go a long way to determining whether they beat the drop.

Gomes though, will have to do without midfielder John Swift, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season after having hip surgery, having scored four goals and made three assists in 36 appearances in all competitions this season.

So how much of a blow is the loss of Swift to Reading's survival chances?

We discuss........

Gary Hutchinson

“It’s a blow, no side wants to lose a key man at this stage of the season.

“Reading did a lot of hard work this weekend though and now they’re the ones to catch in the relegation battle.

“They’re not out of the woods yet and losing a key man is a blow, but they’re on the right side of the line with matches left.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s not as big of a blow as it could have been.

"Swift has made a notable contribution to the Royals’ recent revival under Jose Gomes, but he isn’t the main midfielder that Reading are relying on.

"With Andy Rinomhota back in action now, Gomes has enough options available to him now and they hardly missed Swift in the recent win over Brentford at the weekend.

"They’ll cope without him."

Louie Chandler

"It is definitely a blow.

"Reading are hardly inundated with those creative types so losing one could have a big impact on their side.

"However, I think recent results will have done enough to see the Royals stay up."
