With six games played in the Championship, Queens Park Rangers fans will be rather pleased with how things have gone so far.

Mark Warburton's side sit in eighth place with ten points and, following last season's relegation scrap, hopes will be rising that this season could be more exciting.

One player who has found himself involved with first-team matters this season is midfield youth graduate Illias Chair.

The 21-year-old impressed out on loan with Stevenage last season, netting six goals and providing six more assists, and he is set to be rewarded by the club for his fine start to the current campaign.

TalkSport reported on Tuesday that he is set to be offered a new deal at Loftus Road.

So, what should we make of this situation?

Tackling today's six-pointer is Louie Chandler...

Is this a good idea from the Rs?

"It is an excellent idea.

"Chair showed during his time away on loan last season that he has serious potential to be a very exciting player for the West London side but with just a year remaining on his deal, he needs to be tied down.

"Letting this run on and on will only weaken their position later in the week."

Has he done enough to earn a new deal?

"Considering his age, I would say so.

"At 21, the bar is always going to be a little bit lower than for players at a more advanced stage in their career so I think he has comfortably done enough.

"Once the deal is signed, however, the pressure will be ramped up and more will be expected of him."

Just how good can he be?

"He is at a crucial stage in his career.

"If he makes all the right choices and sticks on the right path, he could easily become a Premier League standard midfielder in the next few seasons, for QPR or otherwise.

"This season could be a big one and I would back Mark Warburton to be the perfect mentor for him."

What role has he played in the current campaign?

"He has appeared regularly but is yet to nail down a place in the team.

"But having been out on loan in League Two last season, I suspect he will be content with this. If he can keep getting regular appearances from the bench and in the cups, I am sure he will give Warburton plenty to think about eventually."

Will he be a regular this season?

"Again, he could easily be.

"QPR are not overwhelmed with quality operators in midfield so I imagine he will get his chances to impress.

"It will come down to whether or not he is able to take them that will determine his standing in the team."

Who should be offered a new deal next in the squad?

"I think it has to be Bright Osayi-Samuel.

"The winger made a very impressive start to the campaign and although he has dropped to the bench in the last two matches, he is somebody who clearly has a very bright future.

"Just like Chair, his contract is set to expire next summer so the club should move quickly to ensure that this is sorted as soon as possible."
