With the half-way point in the Championship season fast approaching, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa must be satisfied with his side's performance as they currently sit in second spot in the league just a point off leaders Norwich City.

Their performance is even more remarkable considering the suspensions and injuries that the Argentine has had to contend with to key personnel within one of the more compact squads in the Championship.

Bielsa will be shaking his head this morning as he copes with the loss of another key defender after captain Liam Cooper limped off with a knee injury after 21 mins at the weekend and faces a period on the sidelines.

So how big a loss is the loss of Cooper?

We discuss.....

It is a hefty blow, to be honest. If it isn’t one, it’s another - with their defensive injuries at present.

With Gaetano Berardi out and Pontus Jansson out then back in, it is another hit to Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the defensive third.

And it is highlighting an area that needs strengthening in January, despite the emergence of Aapo Halme.

Yet again we’re talking about a Leeds injury.

We’ve said they’re all big blows but guess what? They’re still in the top two.

So, is it a blow?

Or will they just adapt as they have been doing all season.

George Harbey

It’s a massive blow.

Marcelo Bielsa seems to be struggling to see his injury list actually decrease.

Pontus Jansson has only just returned to the Leeds defence, but with Cooper now injured, it means that Bielsa will have to rely on youngsters before potentially dipping into the transfer market in January for a replacement.
