Leeds United have had a third offer for Southampton striker Che Adams turned down by the Premier League club, with the YEP reporting the Whites had proposed a loan deal, with an option to buy for £20m if they are promoted from the Championship this season.

Adams has failed to score in 21 appearances for Saints since moving to St Mary's from Birmingham City last summer, after the 23-year-old netted 22 goals in 46 league games for the Blues in 2018-19.

With Southampton rejecting Leeds United's latest Adams offer, is it time for them to move on?

Kris Smith

“£20million is a hefty bid for Southampton to turn down in January, especially for a player that is yet to score for them since signing in the summer.

“Adams is no doubt a solid squad player for the Saints and Ralph Hasenhuttl is adamant he’s going nowhere, but that offer just seems to good to refuse as they could replace him with that much money.

“I doubt Leeds have the financial clout to up their bid even further than this and it stinks of desperation to even go this high for him, so they should be thinking about other targets now.

“For that price, there are certainly other quality forwards that will be available and clubs more willing to do business with Leeds, so it’s definitely time to move on before it becomes too late this month.”

“This latest turn in the Che Adams/Leeds saga seems like it has to be the end of the road.

“I’m not sure how much more the Whites can offer at this point, so they shouldn’t be wasting any more time on the deal.

“It’s certainly a blow because Adams could’ve been a fantastic addition for Leeds and with a fantastic recent record in the Championship, is just what they need.

“It’s absolutely vital that they sign a replacement for Eddie Nketiah this month, so they need to move on now and ensure they can bring in a forward before the window shuts in nine days time.”

Ben Lang

"This is a very generous offer from Leeds given Adams has failed to establish himself at Southampton this season, and I'm very surprised to see that the Saints have turned down the chance to return a profit on the player.

"It clearly means that the Premier League side are eager to keep hold of Adams in the hope he will keep adapting to life in the top-flight, and Leeds would now be much better off by turning their attention to better-valued players.

"The Whites should instead turn their attention to the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Andre Gray who will probably be available for cheaper than this amount, with it now seeming that Leeds have exhausted all their options with regard to Adams.

"The Elland Road outfit are in desperate need of adding to their attacking unit before the window closes, and with last January's Dan James saga still fresh in the mind, Leeds must now be decisive by turning to other potential striking additions."
