Arsenal legend Thierry Henry looks set to be offered the manager's position at Championship side Aston Villa, with former England captain John Terry joining him as his Assistant according to reports in the Daily Mail

Villa are looking for a manager following the sacking of Steve Bruce following a horrendous run of results saw Villa well off the pace in the Championship.

But do Henry and Terry have the experience to excel at Villa?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Not at all.

What they have is footballing experience and Thierry Henry has the experience as the Belgium assistant manager.

John Terry is a novice with the coaching side of things but his captaincy for Chelsea and England make him an experienced man in the dressing room.

But that is all before becoming the leading duo at a Championship club.

They are big names and that looks like what the new chairmen are looking for ahead of second-tier nouse to get Vila up.

Gary Hutchinson

No.

Henry has coached, Terry knows Villa, but if that was the only pre-requisite then anyone could have got the job.

This is all about names and nothing about experience.

It has gamble written all over it.

George Harbey

They may not have the experience, but we’ve seen the likes of Frank Lampard excel at Derby in his first spell of management, as well as Steven Gerrard over in Scotland with Rangers too.

Terry knows the club like the back of his hands, whereas Henry has been the assistant of Belgium for a few years, and it could prove to be a shrewd appointment.

Jacob Potter

I think that their lack of managerial experience will see them struggle at first in an under-performing Villa side.

But like Frank Lampard at Derby, their high-profile status will win over the players and supporters and I can see them being an excellent partnership that will succeed at Villa.
