Overall, Aston Villa’s season has been a disappointment, with the club failing to mount a serious promotion challenge in the Sky Bet Championship.

Steve Bruce’s appointment as the club’s manager in October brought serious belief Villa could stage a Play-Off push, particularly after an impressive run of form before Christmas.

However, a winless run stretching from Boxing Day until February 25th, ultimately cost Bruce’s side a place in the end of season Play-Offs.

With just three fixtures of the season remaining, Villa are 12th in the Championship table, 15-points adrift of sixth-placed Fulham.

Bruce’s side still have plenty to play for in the remaining three fixtures, as they look to restore some pride and prove they can challenge at the top end of the table in 12-months time.

Added to this, Villa take on fierce rivals Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon in the Second-City derby, where local bragging rights will be at stake.

Villa’s owner Dr Tony Xia will be attending the derby on Sunday, and took to his personal Twitter account to admit how much he is looking forward to the atmosphere inside Villa Park.

Here is how Villa’s supporters reacted to Xia’s tweet…
