Football League World's Brentford fan pundit Rhys Byron has taken a cautious approach in response to rumours linking Aston Villa winger Andre Green with a transfer to Griffin Park.

According to Football Insider, the 21-year-old speedster is reportedly of interest to the Bees ahead of the looming January transfer window, with the winger having just six months left on his current deal at Villa Park.

Green has found game time hard to come by this term whilst being on loan at Brentford's fellow Championship club Preston North End, with the youngster only being afforded 87 minutes of league football so far.

With close to 50 appearances for Villa, Green would represent an experienced but youthful option for Thomas Frank to supplement his existing squad with.

We caught up with Byron earlier this week to discuss the recent speculation linking Green with a move to west London and here is what our fan pundit had to say on the rumours:

"I think he would be a very good signing for the club but it does have me concerned that we are looking at a winger as it would leave me to think that either Watkins or Benrahma could be heading to Aston Villa as part of a player plus cash deal involving Andre Green.

"Despite the recent scintillating form of Mbuemo and Benrahma's strong ability, I can still see Green having an impact on the rest of our season.

"If we managed to keep hold of both Benrahma and Watkins, we may see Green feature more from the bench but as the games pile up towards the end of the season we may have to look at rotating the starting eleven.

"Therefore, this signing could be more important than we want to acknowledge."

With Green having found game time hard to come by at Preston this term, it seems likely that the winger could well be recalled to Villa Park come January.

And with his future unclear in the Midlands, we could well see the promising winger make a permanent or temporary move to Griffin Park in the near future.
