Chris Wilder has been one of the busiest managers in the Sky Bet Championship so far this summer, preparing his Sheffield United squad for their first return to the second-tier since 2011.

Having stormed to the League One title during the 2016/17 campaign, Wilder has set about making the necessary changes to his squad to make his side competitive in the Championship next season.

Four players have arrived at Bramall Lane already this summer, with Ched Evans and Nathan Thomas giving the Blades options in attack, whilst Enda Stevens and George Baldock have been bought to bolster the defence.

Wilder is targeting an experienced central defender, and having missed out on Ryan Bennett, who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, attentions will have now turned to other targets.

The Blades have been installed as odds-on favourites to re-sign Everton’s Phil Jagielka this summer, ten years after the defender left Bramall Lane.

The 34-year old could be the experienced defender Wilder appears to be looking for ahead of the Blades’ return to the second-tier.

Here is how fans reacted to the latest links with Jagielka…
