Alan Irvine's Norwich City ran riot at home to Reading on Saturday afternoon as the Canaries scored six first-half goals were eventual 7-1 winners, dealing a massive blow in the Royals' hopes of a third-place finish.

The hosts got their win underway inside the third minute as Nelson Oliveira hit home from the spot and it was soon doubled when Wes Hoolahan dinked a second in moments later.

Alex Pritchard scored one of the goals of the season half-way through the opening 45 minutes as his 25-yard effort found the back of the net, before Russell Martin tapped-in from close range to add a fourth in the 31st minute.

Pritchard got his brace of the afternoon after calmly slotted past Ali Al-Habsi. Reading got their only goal of the match shortly afterwards as his header found it's way into the goal but then Hoolahan was on duty to make it six before the half-time whistle.

Norwich City continued to dominate in the second-half and the score line could have ended in double digits, including a fine opportunity from Mitchell Dijks who's smashed off the bar.
