After a hugely impressive first season for Portsmouth, forward Ronan Curtis has insisted that he is not concerned by transfer speculation as preparations for the 2019/20 campaign begin to get underway.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a fine debut season at Fratton Park following his arrival from Derry City, scoring 11 goals and producing eight assists for Kenny Jackett's side in all competitions.

With the Blues missing out on promotion to the Championship, the versatile forward has admitted that he has interest from a couple of teams, but remains solely focused on life on the South Coast.

Speaking to the Derry Journal, he said: "There are a couple of clubs interested but I’ll just leave that to the agents - I do my bit on the pitch and they do their best off the pitch. So we’ll just wait and see."

“I’ve still got another year and a bit left on my contract. I love Portsmouth and nothing is happening at the minute. I’m enjoying my football."

Curtis attracted interest from the likes of Leeds United and Derby County last January, and with only one year left on his contract at Fratton Park, it remains to be seen whether Pompey look to cash in this summer, rather than let him leave potentially on a free transfer next term.

Here, we discuss the future at Curtis at Fratton Park...

Ben Lang

"I can see him moving on if one of the interested clubs step up their interest.

"Curtis will be eager to ensure his career progression continues to gather momentum after an impressive season at Portsmouth, and he certainly has not ruled out a move to the Championship.

"I think his direct style would mean he thrives in the Championship, and his 11 goals from the wing last season proves he has several facets to his game. Portsmouth may well struggle to hold on to him."

Toby Wilding

"His comments currently appear to suggest he will stay, at least for now.

"Curtis appears focused on his time at Fratton Park currently, and while that could help them on the pitch, it may be something of a concern for them off it.

"With Curtis out of contract next summer, there will be pressure on Pompey to get him to sign a new contract if he is to stay at the club beyond next season, or if the club are to receive a fee for the player, assuming he does not leave this summer, and that is something that could be more difficult to do."

Gary Hutchinson

"I do, yes.

"He’s only had one season there and I don’t think he’s likely to be one of their departures.

"He seems settled on the south coast and having only been with them for one season I can see him pushing on and gaining more experience.

"He could make the step up, there isn’t a doubt about that, but he would be best served with another year at Fratton Park."

Jacob Potter

"I think he'll give it one more season.

"I had my doubts about Curtis originally, but I'm pleased to say he's proved me wrong.

"He's a goalscorer and could be useful to a number of Championship teams in the future.

"But I think he should give it one more season with Portsmouth to see if they get promoted, and if they don't, then I'd expect him to move on."

Louie Chandler

"I think it could go either way.

"Curtis was absolutely excellent throughout the first half of the League One campaign last season but his form slowly trailed off.

"Had that form been maintained I think his departure would have been a certainty but there is now a real chance that he could hang around.

"It may come down to whether or not a Championship club were convinced enough by that early form."
