Aston Villa star Tammy Abraham is struggling with a calf injury whilst on international duty for England's under-21s.

According to Nick Mashiter from Press Association, the 21-year-old sat out of training on Wednesday morning and is set to be assessed ahead of the Young Lions' clash with Poland on Thursday evening - the extent of the injury is yet to be revealed.

This could spell worry for Aston Villa and Dean Smith - the forward has been pivotal in the side's push up the Championship table, having scored 21 goals in 32 appearances this term.

Here, we discuss how big of a blow it would be for Villa to lose Abraham...

George Harbey

"This could be massive for Villa in their race for promotion.

"We often see these type of injuries look minor at first but turn out to become lengthy spells on the sidelines.

"Villa cannot afford this to happen at such a crucial stage of the season."

Louie Chandler

"I don't think it is too big a concern.

"From the sounds of it, it is a knock, which at worst, will rule him out of under-21 duties.

"Even if it is just one match for Villa as well I don't think it will be too much of an issue with Jonathan Kodjia ready to step in."

Jacob Potter

"This couldn't have come at a worse time.

"Abraham has been in the form of his career this season and would leave a sizeable void in the starting XI.

"If he's out for a prolonged spell, then I fear it could cost them promotion to the Premier League."
