Barnsley are flying high in League One at the moment but were dealt a huge blow on Thursday when they revealed that Kieffer Moore would be ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Tykes only signed Moore from Ipswich Town in January 2018 but he has made an immediate impact, scoring 22 goals in 51 appearances.

However, after a suffering a concussion against Gillingham at the start of February, he has been advised to sit out the rest of the campaign.

Daniel Stendel's side are currently sat in second place in the League One table, five points behind league-leaders Luton Town but just two ahead of Sunderland.

This weekend sees them travel to mid-table Southend United as they look to maintain their push for an immediate return to the second-tier.

But just how big a blow will this set-back prove to be to their promotion hopes?

We discuss...

Jay Taylor

“I think their promotion charge will take a hit

“But it should not affect them too much, Barnsley have a pretty solid side.

“There are other players who will be able to come in and make a difference.

“I wouldn’t be too worried if I were a Tykes fan.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Kieffer Moore’s absence will be a big blow.

“Coupled with losing Potts and Moncur in the window, it could be fatal.

“They’ve stumbled of late, struggled for goals in key matches.

“I think it’s the play-offs for them.”

Louie Chandler

"It's a massive blow.

"Having a reliable goalscorer is often key to any side winning promotion from League One so it now puts a lot of pressure on Cauley Woodrow to up his ratio.

"It is not guaranteed to derail their season but it definitely increases the chances."
