Bristol City fan pundit Colin Sutton believes that the recent signing of Spanish striker Rodri could prove to be a crucial factor this season.

The 29-year-old's arrival was confirmed by the club on Wednesday on an initial deal until January, although they have the option to extend it further, and Sutton says it is a much-needed addition.

"It's no surprise we have taken a striker on a short-term deal until the transfer window opens in January, since losing Afobe to injury, and being linked with free agents such as Bony and Hooper," the regular punter told Football League World.

"Rodri, from what I have seen of him looks quick, and can get in behind a high line which suits our style of play, particularly away from home, playing on the counter.

"I described recently why Eddie Nketiah at 5’9", quick, playing off last defender and power would be suited to our style, and it appears that in Rodri we have a striker of a similar ilk.

"Mark Ashton and LJ have a knack lately of coming up with some quality signings and getting more out of them, this could be another example and only short term until January, it could be a stroke of genius."

Rodri has been without a club since being released by Granada in the summer having made 34 appearances for the La Liga side, scoring five goals.

He graduated through the youth system at Sevilla before being poached by Barcelona B, also boasting experience in the Bundesliga with 1860 Munich.

Most notably, however, is perhaps the 11 matches of Championship football he played with Sheffield Wednesday during the six months he spent on loan with the Owls, netting just one goal.
