Sunderland still have their most important decision of the summer to make, with the Black Cats yet to decide who will replace David Moyes as the club’s manager in the Sky Bet Championship next season.
Derek McInnes, one of Sunderland’s top targets, has already turned down the role, opting to stay with Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, whilst others have also been linked.
Latest reports in the Independent are suggesting that a new consortium is looking to buy Sunderland from Ellis Short, which includes former Arsenal defender, Tony Adams.
These reports suggest Adams could be offered a role in the new set-up at the Stadium of Light, should a deal go through.
Following the links between Adams and Sunderland, here is how Twitter reacted…
#SAFC fans taking over the club is a romantic idea. It becomes all the more typically SAFC when you hear that Tony Adams name is in the mix.

I presume the fans consortium hoping to buy a controlling stake in Sunderland and appoint Tony Adams as manager, are Newcastle fans. #SAFC
