It is an over-used cliche as a Championship season comes to an end that the season just gone has been the best we have seen, but the 2018/19 season can stake a real claim to that title, as it has proved to be one of he most competitive promotion races in many a season.

So with the current campaign coming to a close, various observers will present awards and put forward their 'Team of the Year', with the PFA the latest to do so.

The PFA Championship Team of 2019 this season is dominated by the sides fighting for promotion, meaning that Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen failed to make the cut.

So should Bowen be disappointed not to be selected?

We discuss........

George Brooks

"After what has been a thrilling promotion race in the Championship this season, it is probably fair to see the team of the year dominated by players from the clubs challenging for promotion.

"It should not be forgotten though that Bowen has had an outstanding season for Hull City and has scored some outstanding goals.

"He was unlucky to miss out on the team in my opinion, but none of the players who made the XI deserved to miss out either."

Alfie Burns

“It came as a shock to me.

“Bowen has been in great form this season for Hull and had some moments of absolute brilliance.

“You get the feeling that the club he plays for mean he’s been overlooked on this occasions, which isn’t really fair.”

George Dagless

"A bit harsh.
"At the end of the day, it is voted for by the players so you cannot really argue with that.
"I think Bowen can count himself pretty unlucky, though, as he has had a fantastic season for Hull."

Gary Hutchinson

“Someone’s got to miss out.

“The whole ‘TOTY’ thing baffles me.

“People get so indignant when their favourite gets left our, when someone they like isn’t involved.

“It’s all opinion, whether one persons or that of every PFA member.”
