Leeds United remain in talks to appoint Marcelo Bielsa as the club's new boss and if he does take over the Championship club it's unlikely to come on the cheap.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay revealed that the Argentinian coach was on £8m a year whilst at French side Lille.

Such a salary in the Championship would be unheard of, in fact it would make him on the top earners in the country, behind Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

There's no suggestion that Leeds will pay anywhere near that for the manager, however it does give an indication as to why talks haven't progressed as quickly as some would have wanted, with the two parties still to agree a deal.

And, after hearing the latest update from Hay, some supporters of the Yorkshire club were questioning whether spending so much on Bielsa is worthwhile.
