A number of Derby County supporters have been reacting to the latest report from The Telegraph that the Rams are monitoring the situation of Luton Town forward James Collins ahead of the summer window.

Wayne Rooney’s side will be needing to bolster their attacking options in the summer, with the Rams having been heavily reliant on Colin Kazim-Richards to be their main scorer this term with him hitting seven goals in his 30 appearances.

In January the Rams sought to address that with the loan signing of Stoke City’s Lee Gregory and he has managed to chip in with two goals.

There has also been a bit of friction between Rooney and forward Martyn Waghorn, with the Derby manager calling out the way he had been training in the build-up to the Stoke game last time out and leaving him out of the squad as a result. That will have placed doubt over his potential future.

The Rams are now being linked with a potential move for Collins, who has managed to find the net seven times in 33 appearances this term after scoring 14 Championship goals last term.

It is thought that Derby are monitoring his situation with him set to be a free agent in the summer, but there is also believed to be competition from Preston North End and MLS clubs.

Many Derby fans were split over the potential signing, with some believing he does not have the quality that the Rams need to kick on next term. While others were suggesting that in Derby’s current financial situation it might be the best option they can get.
