Southampton striker Sam Gallagher has emerged as a loan transfer target for Aston Villa, according to The Birmingham Mail.
The Villans have been hit with a financial crisis this summer, meaning that they might need to sell a number of first-team players to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, including strikers Scott Hogan, Jonathan Kodjia, Keinan Davis and Ross McCormack.
Aston Villa may be limited to loans and Steve Bruce is considering a temporary move for Gallagher.
The 22-year-old spent the 2016/17 season with Blackburn Rovers – scoring 12 goals – and last season with Villa’s Second City rivals Birmingham City, where he netted seven times.
The former England under-21 international recently scored in Southampton’s pre-season win over Jiangsu Suning but it is unclear whether he has a future with the south coast side.
Another loan spell could beckon with Aston Villa keen.
Here are eight things Aston Villa fans are saying about the Gallagher transfer rumours.
Why? 6 goals in 33 games last year. He is no better than Davies and Hepburn Murphy. Give our players a go FFS.

Is this guy really any better than Keinan?

Squad depth anyone?

Why play our own youth players ffs

Twitter should really have a dislike button! Let's give our youth a chance. RHM and KD could be Villa stalwarts and heroes in the years to come

Bruce off developing other clubs players again. This guy isnt up to much otherwise he would surely be pushing for a start at Southampton. Lets give RHM and Davis a proper chance this year.

Oh dear when will SB learn give RHM a chance #nomoreloans

Dont think he is, but if we lose Kodjia and Hogan, it wouldnt be the worst possible signing. #avfc
