Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in signing CD Aves goalkeeper Quentin Beunardeau.

The 25-year old has caught the eye over in Portugal after a string of solid performances for Aves, keeping five clean sheets in 19 appearances for the club who sit dangerously close to the drop-zone.

But reports have emerged claiming that, along with Aston Villa, Montpellier and Nice, Steve Bruce's Owls are interested in signing the former French under-20 international, with the club's current shot-stopper Keiren Westwood facing an uncertain future at Hillsborough.

The Irishman's contract with the club is set to expire at the end of the season, and it seems as if Bruce is casting one eye over potential replacements already.

Here, we discuss whether Beunardeau would be a good signing for Wednesday...

George Harbey

"This makes perfect sense from an Owls perspective.

"If Westwood is to leave, then Wednesday need to provide competition for the likes of Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith, who just aren't ready yet.

"I thought Bruce would have been opting for a more experienced player, but Beunardeau looks to be a good signing on paper."

Jay Taylor

"Is this an option that they can afford?

"I’m unsure - and they have a solid stopper in Westwood already on the books.

"There’s no harm in looking to better the squad, but I think Bruce would be better off sticking with what he has."

Louie Chandler

"Do they need him?

"Westwood will be more than capable for another couple of seasons and then even when he goes they have plenty in reserve.

"Both Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith are more than deserving of a shot once the Irishman moves on."
