Scott Parker’s Fulham enjoyed at fine 2-1 win over Queen’s Park Rangers at Craven Cottage on Friday. Before the match there were concerns that in the absence of Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, bought about through a one-match ban, the Cottagers might struggle to find the back of the net against a useful QPR side. However, at it turned out, there was no need to worry.

Aboubakar Kamara, the 24-year-old French striker, was given a rare opportunity to play in place of the banned Mitrovic, and boy, didn't he make the most of it? He turned out to have a sterling performance, capped by scoring both of Fulham's goals.

When it comes to attacking options, Scott Parker is sitting pretty. In Mitrovic, he has probably the best striker in the Championship. Kamara has also shown that when used, he is more than capable of scoring goals.

Parker has stuck by Kamara despite his recent chequered history. The incident when the Frenchman grabbed the ball off Mitrovic only to take and miss the penalty that the Serbian was about to take is still fresh in many supporters’ minds.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the only blot on Kamara’s copybook. Back in January of this year, he was arrested by police at the Fulham's Motspur Park training ground. He was taken into custody on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and criminal damage after a fracas with a Fulham staff member.

To make matters worse, the fiery-tempered striker also had a couple of altercations with Aleksandar Mitrovic one of which is said to have resulted in a fight with the Serb during a yoga session.

These incidents all took place under the reign of the previous manager, Claudio Ranieri. Current manager, Scott Parker, says that since he has been the manager at Craven Cottage, Kamara has been top-class. He acknowledges that the 24-year-old Frenchman can be difficult to manage and that he has to be given a yard or two because of the character he is.

But after last Friday’s splendid performance and his two goals, the only problem Aboubakar Kamara has given Parker is how to fit him in the team to best effect when Mitrovic returns.

Parker’s and the Cottagers’ ultimate ambition is to get immediate promotion back into the Premiership. To do that he needs to make sure the team keep scoring goals.

He is a lucky man. Not only does he have Aleksander Mitrovic, Ivan Cavaleiro and Tom Cairney to rely on and Aboubaka Kamara also seeming eager to play, he also has a wonder-kid in the background. His name is Jay Stansfield, and right now, he is a goal-scoring machine.

Jay has just turned 18-years-of-age. Two years ago, he was part of the junior set-up at Exeter City Football Club. Unfortunately for City, he turned down their offer of a two-year apprenticeship and instead joined Fulham’s U18 side in August of this year.

In his first game for his new club against Tottenham Hotspur, he marked his debut by scoring a goal. He rapidly scored another four against Leicester, Norwich and Reading. Just three weekends ago he registered his third consecutive hat-trick. In total, from the eleven games, he has played for Fulham's U18s this season he has scored 17 goals.

He may still be a little too young to join the Cottagers' first team. He is quite slight in build, and it would not do for him to have to compete with the likes of Mitrovic, Cavaleiro, Tom Cairney and Kamara for a first-team place. But going forward Scott Parker should be blooding him when the time is right. He could be his ace in the hole when it comes to Fulham's promotion hopes.

In the same way that Chelsea’s youngsters will be integral for the England team in Euro 2020, according to a recent interview with Shaun-Wright Philips, the next batch of youngsters like Jay Stansfield need to be being groomed by their clubs too. So, c’mon Mr Parker - get your finger out.
