Aston Villa really saw the where the benchmark was for this season's title race at the weekend as they lost to Wolves 2-0 at Molineux.

Both sides came into the game thinking about the win but, in truth, only one side looked like getting the three points from very early on and it wasn't the away side.

Steve Bruce and his men, then, have work to do to try and get themselves back towards the top of the league and it might just be time for the former Wigan manager to call on a rather forgotten man - Scott Hogan.

The Irish forward has not had a good time at Villa since his move last summer but when he came on against Wolves at the weekend - for Keinan Davis - he looked as though he could do a job.

The forward is no doubt a trier, he just hasn't had much luck, and with Villa needing more fire power and the increasing suggestion that Keinan Davis needs a rest, it could be time he is given a life-line.

Certainly, the potential forward line of Hogan and Jonathan Kodjia has all the ingredients needed to be a very potent attack, it might just need some more time to gel with both players enduring injury spells in recent months.

And, with Villa at home next up against a Fulham side that will be open and look to attack, it could be time to try and spark something between Hogan and Kodjia.
