Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of former Swansea defender Angel Rangel.

The 35-year-old has signed a short-term deal at Loftus Road and becomes the club’s second signing after the arrival of Toni Leistner, who arrived as the club's only signing of the summer transfer window.

Rangel arrives on a free transfer after his release from Swansea City in the summer and provides manager Steve McClaren with much-needed experience and cover, with young defender Darnell Furlong currently out for three months with a knee injury.

Rangel’s deal runs until the middle of January and was an integral part of the Swansea side that made it to the Premier League back in 2011.

During his 11-years with the Welsh side, he made 374 appearances and scoring ten goals in a career played mainly in the top-flight.

His experience in the top two divisions will be invaluable for Steve McClaren’s youthful side, especially in a position that was threadbare, to begin with.

With that said, is the signing of Rangel a good one for Queens Park Rangers.

We discuss…

Sam Rourke

It's a solid signing.

QPR are in desperate need of some experience and Rangel will bring plenty of that.

Having amassed plenty of experience in the top-flight and in the EFL, he'll be an influence for the R's on the pitch and in the dressing room.

A beneficial move for all parties.

George Dagless

It's a solid signing.

He's got good experience and should bring that to an R's team that is obviously short.

Steve McClaren needs to bring in a number of players that can pass on their knowledge this season and Angel should be only the start of that.

Alfie Burns

This has the potential to be a really good signing for QPR.

Rangel is vastly experienced, and during his time at Swansea, he played in the Championship and League One, as well as the top-flight.

A short-term contract pulls away some of the risk behind signing a 35-year-old, who will be desperate to prove his worth and win a longer contract.

Angel Rangel? Is it 2008?

He's 35-years old, and if QPR can't find a better option somewhere in world football, I will be appalled.

It may sound harsh, maybe he still has plenty to offer, but he made four last season in the Premier League, and although he brings the experience that McClaren needs, he won't pay enough games it make it count.

I worry for QPR under McClaren.
