Irish legend Robbie Keane is a free agent this summer having been released by MLS side LA Galaxy last year, and the soon to be 37-year-old is on the lookout for one final foray into football before his long career comes to an end.

His country’s record scorer, Keane has played his football across the world, and wherever he has gone, he has scored goals.

Keane managed 83 in only 125 MLS appearances for Galaxy, and continued to find the back of the net all the way up until his release last year.

New Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp brought Keane back to Tottenham in 2009 following a short spell with Liverpool, and recently managed the striker in Michael Carrick’s testimonial.

It is reported that Redknapp is keen for another reunion, and could look to bring the player to St Andrews this summer to not only add goals to his side, but to allow his younger players to learn and excel alongside the vastly experienced Irishman.

Keane is desperate to find a new club, and the opportunity to play in English football again will be a huge draw to the player.

The player began his career down the road at Wolverhampton, and a return to the West Midlands could be on the cards for Keane in the coming weeks.

The player still has plenty to offer both on and off the pitch, and could quickly become Redknapp’s right hand man in the dressing room.

An excellent move for so many reasons, a year with Birmingham would benefit both players, club, and manager.
