Speaking to LUTV, Garry Monk has confirmed Leeds United will be without Liam Bridcutt for this Saturday’s clash with Norwich City at Elland Road.

Bridcutt, who is Leeds’ captain, missed the defeat to Burton Albion on Saturday with an Achilles injury, and his absence is a blow for Monk, with his side needing to pick up three-points to stay in the Play-Off hunt.

Confirming his captain’s absence, Monk said: “Liam Bridcutt won’t be available, he has a soreness around his Achilles. Apart from that, we are as we were before Burton."

The 27-year old has struggled with a number of injuries this season, making 25 Championship appearances.

However, Bridcutt has led from the front, helping Monk’s side compete for a place in the Sky Bet Championship’s top-six.

Leeds have been in the hunt for the Play-Offs for large parts of the season, but a disappointing April has led to the club slipping out of the top-six for the first time since November.

Monk’s side are now seventh, trailing sixth-placed Fulham by three-points with their Play-Off hopes now out of their hands.
