Ipswich Town have been linked with yet another move to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to reports from The Sun on Sunday (13/01, page 59).

The United States of America international has spent the first-half of this season on loan at Swansea City, but has made just six starts for Graham Potter’s men having fallen behind the likes of Joe Rodon and Mike van der Hoorn in the pecking order at the Liberty Stadium.

And having also fallen massively out of favour at Tottenham too, reports from the Sun claim that the 21-year old could be offered the chance to switch clubs this week, with Paul Lambert’s men being linked with a move to land the defender.

The central defender is no stranger to the Portman Road faithful, having made seventeen appearances for the club on loan last season - and he was linked with a move to join the Tractor Boys once more in late December.

Lambert’s men picked up only their third league win of the season at the weekend, with an invaluable 1-0 home win over Rotherham United - the Suffolk club remain at the bottom of the Championship table, but are now seven points adrift of safety.

The Verdict

I wouldn’t be very surprised at all if Carter-Vickers went to go and sign for Ipswich - he needs regular game time and he’s not getting that at Swansea.

He’d be a shrewd signing for Ipswich, he’s strong and powerful and does the basics in defence, which is what Ipswich need if are to keep pushing up the league.

This could be a real coup.
