Ipswich Town suffer frustrating blow ahead of fixtures against Leeds and Norwich

Ipswich Town’s Tom Lawrence is set to begin his two-match ban this weekend, following his tenth booking of the season in last night’s draw with Brighton and Hove Albion, confirmed the club’s official Twitter account.

Lawrence was cautioned during the first-half of Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton, which now means he will miss the visit of Leeds United on Saturday and the East Anglian Derby with Norwich City the following week.

The 22-year old linked up with Mick McCarthy’s side during the summer, signing on a season-long loan from Premier League side Leicester City.

Lawrence has been key for Ipswich this season, scoring ten goals across all competitions, including eight in the Sky Bet Championship.

McCarthy’s side are 11-points clear of the relegation zone, and have moved to 13th in the table, following five points from their last three games.

Saturday’s impressive victory over Aston Villa, was sandwiched between two valuable draws with promotion chasing Reading and Brighton.

Ipswich face Garry Monk’s Leeds on Saturday, who recorded a 2-1 victory over Bristol City last night to get their Play-Off push back on track following back-to-back defeats.

Ipswich fans… How much of a miss will Lawrence be in the next two fixtures? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
