According to BBC Sport, Ipswich Town defender Christophe Berra believes that the club are caught in the Sky Bet Championship relegation battle.

With nine games left to play, Ipswich Town sit in 16th place: six places and seven points above the relegation zone.

Berra believes that this is too close for comfort.

The Scotland international is concerned by how close the Tractor Boys are to the drop zone, although he admitted that they are only “two or three” wins away from being in a more comfortable position.

The 32-year-old said:

“Seven points isn’t that big a gap.

“Two or three wins would ease it, but it is getting tough.”

Berra continued to suggest that Ipswich’s poor season is down to a lack of good business in the transfer windows.

He said:

“We’ve not made the most investments.

“Teams in and around us have maybe done a little bit more.”

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy also acknowledged the lack of spending in an interview with BBC Radio Suffolk, saying:

“We haven’t spent Aston Villa money.

“We haven’t spent Norwich money.

“We haven’t spent vast sums of money.”
