Ipswich Town are set to keep the talented Armando Dobra at the club after turning down several offers from Brighton for the midfielder.

Even though the 18-year-old has been on the fringes of Paul Lambert's side this season, he is extremely highly-rated at Portman Road and expected to make a big impact in the coming years.

However, Ipswich had a real battle on their hands to keep Dobra at the club after the East Anglian Daily Times revealed they had to turn down a few bids from Brighton.

The chance to move to the Premier League club may have appealed to the player but the report states that the Tractor Boys made it clear that they wouldn't be doing a deal for the teenager.

They go on to add that the League One outfit dismissed the offers immediately as they were 'well short' of Ipswich's valuation.

Therefore, Dobra will remain at the club and he will hope to kick-on in the coming months, although he won't be leaving on loan as had previously been suggested by Lambert.

The verdict

You have to give credit to Ipswich here as it can sometimes be hard to keep hold of your players when there is Premier League interest.

But, they had a value of the player and they didn't cave in despite several attempts from Brighton to do a deal.

All club's want to see youngsters progress into the team and Dobra certainly has the talent to do just that and it's clear his future lies at Portman Road.

Now, it's down to the youngster to train well and take any chances that come his way over the coming months.
