Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Conor Sammon on a season long loan from Derby County.
Sammon has been an unused substitute for the Rams in their opening two games of the season and Mick McCarthy has been looking to strengthen his strike force.
The 27 year old is ineligible to play against the Rams but is available for Ipswich’s first away league game of the season on Saturday against Reading.
“Conor’s first-team chances were limited last season, especially with Chris Martin in superb form.
“That was unfortunately going to be the case for him this season, especially following the arrival of Leon Best from Blackburn Rovers, so moving on loan to Ipswich presents him with a strong possibility of playing first-team football.”
Sammon signed for Derby from Wigan Athletic in August 2012 and scored on his home debut against Watford but has failed to impress since.
