Ipswich Town’s underwhelming season came to a disappointing close with a 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest on the final day.
It was a fitting end to a poor season for the Tractor Boys, with many fans apathetic about their poor performances and lack of goals.
However, amid this dull team has been one real shining light: Tom Lawrence.
On loan from Leicester City, the Wales international has impressed with some sumptuous long range strikes and some scintillating performances in the attacking midfield regions.
The skillful 23-year-old has provided a real goal threat from the wing or in a central attacking midfield position.
Ipswich are really going to miss these goals from midfield next season so they need to adequately replace Lawrence.
One player they could look at is Josh Morris.
The 25-year-old has been a revelation for Scunthorpe United in League One this season, scoring 20 goals in 54 appearances for the Iron and spearheading their promotion push.
However, Scunthorpe did not manage to go up via the play-offs and Morris might be tempted by a move to the Championship.
The former Blackburn Rovers and Bradford City man plays predominantly as a left winger but can also play as a central midfielder or a left back, making him a useful versatile option for Ipswich’s squad.
With transfermarkt rating him at £425k, the former England under-20 international could be available on the cheap as he aims to get back into the second tier of football.
Ipswich would be able to offer him regular playing time and he could replace Lawrence if he can replicate his form from this season.
