Ipswich Town finished in the bottom half of the Championship table this term on 55 points, just 4 points above the relegation zone.

Having to work on a tight budget, most fans would probably deem a 16th place finish acceptable for the East Anglian outfit.

Manager Mick McCarthy has already started to assemble his squad ahead of the new season by releasing none other than 7 players from the club, including striker Leon Best.

McCarthy has offered new deals to Kundai Benyu and Harry Wright, whilst defender Jordan Spence has agreed a new deal with the 'Tractor Boys'.

During this campaign, Ipswich struggled in front of goal, only managing to find the back of the net on 48 occasions.

This is something which surely McCarthy and the clubs owners will be looking to put right ahead of the 2018/2019 Championship season.

Having released striker Leon Best, it leaves the club with four strikers in David McGoldrick, Brett Pitman, Freddie Sears and Kieffer Moore.

All of the strikers that the club have on their books have reasonable but not amazing goal scoring records and McCarthy will be hoping that next season that all four stay fit and can fire the 'Tractor Boys' up the table.

One player that could really help Ipswich in the attacking department that the club should look to sign is the experienced Marvin Emnes.

The Dutch international has been capped for his country between under-16 and under-21 level and has recently been released by Premier League side Swansea City.

Emnes can play either down the middle as a striker or out wide as a winger and could provide options for Mick McCarthy's side.

He has plenty of experience having played in the Premier League for Middlesborough and Swansea City and also in the Championship for Blackburn Rovers.

Following his release from Swansea, he could prove to be a good signing for Ipswich on a free transfer.
