Ipswich Town are set to sign experienced former Watford winger Lloyd Dyer on a deal until the end of the season, according to TWTD.
The 33-year-old has been told that he can leave Vicarage Road after the Premier League side agreed to cancel the remainder of his contract by mutual consent last week.
Town boss Mick McCarthy is desperate to secure the services of another winger as Ryan Fraser suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-0 defeat at QPR.
Dyer hasn’t started a game for Quique Sanchez Flores’ side this season and will now be looking for the chance to get some Championship football under his belt at Portman Road.
He most recently spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City where he scored 1 goal in 18 appearances for the Blues.
After starting his career at West Bromwich Albion, he had loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, Coventry and QPR before going on to to join Millwall, MK Dons and Leicester City on permanent deals.
In his six years with the Foxes, he made over 200 appearances and scored 30 goals – helping them to secure promotion back to the Premier League in 2014.
Play-off chasing Ipswich are currently two points off the top six after having won only two of their last six league games.
McCarthy’s men will be hoping they can put the pressure on sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday when they head to Ashton Gate to face Lee Johnson’s Bristol City.
Ipswich fans, what do you make of Lloyd Dyer potentially signing for the club? Will he be a valuable addition to the squad for the rest of the campaign?
