Ipswich Town are now set to complete the signing of West Brom midfielder Rekeen Harper following Valerien Ismael’s appointment as manager, according to TWTD.

It has been reported previously by TWTD that Ipswich have agreed a deal with West Brom that would be worth a fee of around £500,000 plus potential add ons.

However, it was believed that the Baggies were not willing to officially sanction his exit until they had made a decision over who was going to be taking over from Sam Allardyce.

While it was even reported that Harper could have been handed a lifeline at the Hawthorns by Ismael if he had taken over given his track record of developing and working with younger players.

The latest update from TWTD has now confirmed that the Tractor Boys are set to secure the signing of the midfielder now and that West Brom are now in a position where they are willing to allow him to leave the club on a permanent basis this summer.

It is believed that the arrival of Harper at Portman Road could be announced by the Tractor Boys soon following the development of Ismael taking over at West Brom.

The verdict

This is excellent news for Ipswich and means they could now be set to secure the signing of a very promising player that will be able to enhance quality of their starting line-up. Harper needs to find a fresh home and if Ismael feels he is not going to be a firm part of his plans then it is right that they sanction this move to Portman Road.

Harper is likely to be a player that can excel in League One and you would expect him to be one of the first names on the team sheet next term under Paul Cook. This signing would show how ambitious the Tractor Boys are about getting promoted next season.

Securing a move for Harper would be a major coup for Ipswich and they will hope that with Ismael now appointed at West Brom, this report will prove to be accurate and the Baggies will now be finally ready to rubber-stamp the move. It is one to get excited about for Ipswich supporters if it does get announced shortly.
