Ipswich Town are set to complete the signing of Peterborough United winger Gwion Edwards today, according to a report by HITC Sport.

Edwards is set to move to Ipswich after Peterborough reluctantly accepted a bid for the winger.

The 25-year-old was about to enter the final year of his contract and wanted to move to the Championship with Ipswich set to win the race for his services.

The former Swansea City academy product impressed in League One last season, racking up a tally of seven goals and five assists in his 33 games for Posh.

Ipswich have now agreed a fee with Peterborough for the former Wales under-21 international and expect to get this deal over the line as soon as today.

Edwards will become the third signing of the Paul Hurst era at Portman Road, following the loan arrival of Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah and the permanent signing of Crawley Town winger Jordan Roberts.

The Verdict

This could prove to be an extremely shrewd signing by Ipswich.

Edwards is not going to be expensive, Hurst will know all about him after working in the same division as the wide man and he is a real attacking threat from midfield.

After consecutive seasons of exciting fans with skill, goals and assists, he is ready to step up to the Championship.
