Ipswich Town are reportedly rivalling Luton Town and Blackpool to the potential signing of King’s Lynn midfielder Sonny Carey, according to The Sun. 

The Eastern Daily Press have previously claimed that the Hatters have already had a bid of £100,000 rejected by the National League side, who are clearly keen to keep him at the club.

AFC Bournemouth are also said to be monitoring Carey this summer, whilst Swansea City and Bolton Wanderers have also been credited with interest in landing his signature ahead of the new season.

Paul Cook's side finished ninth in the League One table last term, and will be targeting a timely promotion back into the Championship in the 2021/22 campaign.

Carey can operate both in the centre, or right-hand side of midfield, and has been a regular for King's Lynn in this year's campaign, which reached a conclusion not so long ago.

Carey's efforts weren't quite enough though, as King's Lynn were relegated from the fifth tier of English football, which could lead to him departing the club this summer.

Ipswich will know that they face a tough battle to strike an agreement with the midfielder though, as he's evidently not short of offers at this moment in time.

The Verdict: 

This could turn out to be a smart bit of business by the Tractor Boys.

Carey might not have a considerable amount of experience in senior football at a high level, but at the age of 20, he could be a solid signing for the future for Ipswich Town.

They're more likely to be able to offer him first-team football than the likes of Swansea City and Luton Town, and so this could be a shrewd move by the League One side this summer.

He's got plenty of options to choose from, and King's Lynn will know they're fighting a losing battle to keep him at the club.
