Ipswich Town plot move for ex-Championship boss as Paul Lambert replacement

Published

on

According to The Mirror, Ipswich Town are set to sack Paul Lambert and replace him with Neil Warnock.

The Tractor Boys have been on an awful run of form and have won just once in their last eight games. The poor set of results has seen the side drop behind in the race for the play-offs, and they now sit ninth in the League One table, six points behind sixth placed Fleetwood Town.

Lambert has been in charge since October 2018 and wasn’t able to keep the side in the Championship last season. In the current campaign, Ipswich got off to a great start but in recent months have massively slipped away in the race for promotion.

Warnock left Cardiff City last November, and has stated previously that this current campaign would be his last as a manager in the game.

With just 11 games left of Ipswich’s season, the decision could have a big impact on the race for the top six.

The Verdict

Ipswich have been utterly atrocious in recent weeks, and they don’t look like winning whenever they play.

They have to start winning as soon as possible, otherwise the season is as good as done. If they don’t then they can kiss goodbye to the top six.

Brining in Warnock would certainly shake things up and it wouldn’t be any surprise to see them go and win the majority of their final games.

He always knows how to get a response from his players, and this looks like it could be a move that would work well for both parties.
