On-loan Ipswich striker Will Keane says he hopes to be available when his side travel to Bolton, in what will be a meeting of the Championship's bottom two sides on the 6th April.

Keane hasn't featured for the Tractor Boys since being forced off with a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw at Wigan on the 23rd February, and would have been ineligible for Saturday's visit of parent club Hull to Portman Road under the terms of his loan deal.

Speaking to the club's official website about his recovery from injury, the striker said: "I’m back outside now and if all goes well, I’ll be back training with the lads next week.

“My rehab has been going to plan. I’ve not had any setbacks and I hope it stays that way."

Discussing his target date for a return from injury, Keane went onto reveal: “My aim was always to get back for the game after Hull. I’m not sure if I will be ready to start but hopefully I will be fit enough to be available for selection.”

The verdict

There is almost certainly not enough time left in the season for this to be a boost in Ipswich's fight against the drop, but Paul Lambert's side will want to exit the Championship with some pride. The trip to Bolton is one game they can target to pick up a result that will give them that pride, and Keane's goal-scoring threat could go a long way to getting them that result.
