Ipswich Town goalkeeper Tomas Holy has emerged as a target for League Two side Port Vale, according to a report from Football Insider.

It is understood that Vale have entered talks with the Tractor Boys as they look to seal a loan agreement for the 30-year-old.

Ipswich are believed to be willing to let Holy move on to pastures new in the coming days after securing a permanent deal for Christian Walton last week.

Walton signed a deal with the club that will keep him at Portman Road until 2024 after delivering some impressive performances for the Tractor Boys during his recent loan spell.

After making 36 appearances in the third-tier for Ipswich last season, Holy would have been hoping to feature regularly for the club during the current term.

However, due to the presence of Walton and Vaclak Hladky, Holy has only managed to play three games for the club in all competitions.

Holy was sent to Cambridge on an emergency loan deal in October by Ipswich due to a goalkeeping crisis at the Abbey Stadium and proceeded to make two appearances in the third-tier before returning to Ipswich.

The Verdict

When you consider that Holy is currently below Walton and Hladky in the pecking order at Ipswich, he may be forced to watch on from the sidelines for the foreseeable future if he stays at the club this month.

Keeping this in mind, it could be argued that a move to Port Vale could be exactly what he needs at this stage of his career.

By joining a club who are currently in a lower division than Ipswich, Holy may have a better chance of featuring on a regular basis.

Although the keeper will need to fend off competition for a place in Vale's starting eleven from the likes of Lucas Covolan and Aidan Stone, there is no reason why he cannot go on to achieve a relative amount of success with the League Two outfit before returning to Portman Road later this year.
