Ipswich Town are rivalling Portsmouth to the potential signing of Motherwell midfielder, Alejandro Rodriguez Gorrin according to Football Insider.

Gorrin is out of contract with the Scottish side this month, and it's looking increasingly likely that he will leave the club on a free transfer.

The midfielder has been impressive for Motherwell this season, and his good performances seemingly haven't gone unnoticed.

In total, Gorrin made 25 appearances for the Steelmen, as they finished 8th in the Scottish Premiership.

The report also claims that a number of other English clubs are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old ahead of a potential summer transfer move.

Gorrin will feel as though he has unfinished business, and a point to prove in England, as he was released as a youngster fro Sunderland back in 2014.

He didn't score for Motherwell this season, and his defence-minded attitude in midfield would make him a real asset to a number of teams in English football.

Both Ipswich and Portsmouth evidently see Gorrin as a player that will be of use to them as they target promotion back into the Championship next season.

The Verdict:

It would be a gamble.

Gorrin doesn't have much experience of playing in English football which will immediately make this signing a risky one if it was confirmed.

But then again, both sides need to add quality to their teams ahead of next season, and he could be the missing piece in their promotion jigsaw.
