Ipswich and Republic of Ireland midfielder, Alan Judge's chances of being fit in time for pre-season are hanging by a thread after he broke his wrist on international duty.

The 30-year-old picked up the injury late on into Ireland's draw with Denmark, which could prove to be a crucial point on their travels.

The Irish FA confirmed the extent of his injury on their official Twitter account on Friday evening following the stalemate.

It certainly will be frustrating for the midfielder, who led from the front when he came on as a second-half substitute, and changed the course of the game in Ireland's favour.

His corner was headed home late on by Brighton's Shane Duffy as the Irish snatched an unlikely point on the night.

There will be fears that Judge might not be fit in time to feature for Ipswich during their pre-season plans over the summer after this nasty-looking injury though.

The winger signed for the Tractor Boys in January 2019, but was unable to stop them from being relegated to League One, after a disappointing season in the Championship.

Judge made 39 appearances in total for Paul Lambert's side last season, but only scored and assisted once in his first spell with Ipswich.

He'll be hoping to recover from this irritating injury blow at the earliest of opportunities, so that he can play his part in Ipswich's promotion bid next season.

The Verdict:

This is a frustrating blow for Ipswich.

Judge looked really impressive in the draw with Denmark last night, and he would have been hoping to take that back to Portman Road next season.

I'd be surprised if he's back in time for pre-season, so he'll be doing everything he can to be fit in time for their first game of the season in August.
