Ipswich Town manager Paul Cook has confirmed that Bersant Celina is set to be available for selection for this weekend's clash with Oxford United.

The 25-year-old has been cleared to play in this fixture after holding talks with the Kosovo national team.

Whilst Celina was called up to represent his country during the previous international break, he is now set to stay at Portman Road after initially being included in Kosovo's squad for their games against Jordan and Greece.

Celina featured in Ipswich's EFL Trophy clash yesterday as his side sealed a penalty shoot-out victory over Colchester United.

As a result of this triumph, the Tractor Boys qualified for the knock-out stages of the competition as they finished second in their group.

Set to face Oxford on Saturday, Ipswich will be determined to extend their current unbeaten run to four games by picking up a positive result in-front of their supporters.

Making reference to Celina, Cook has revealed that the loanee will be available for selection for the club's showdown with Oxford.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times about whether the attacking midfielder would be joining up with Kosovo ahead of their meeting with Greece, Cook said: "No, I think Bersant's going to be with us.

"I think he's had a chat with the Kosovan FA and he's clear to play with us as far as I'm aware."

The Verdict

This is unquestionably a boost for Ipswich as Celina has managed to illustrate some real signs of promise for the club in the third-tier since making a temporary move to Portman Road in the summer transfer window.

In the nine league games that he has played for the Tractor Boys, the attacking midfielder has managed to find the back of the net on three occasions whilst he has also chipped in with three assists.

Particularly impressive during Ipswich's 4-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers earlier this month, Celina netted a brace in this fixture as he recorded a WhoScored match rating of 8.80 at Adams Park.

By replicating this performance in this weekend's clash with Oxford, Celina could help his side secure another eye-catching victory.
