Ipswich Town are said to be eyeing a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher this summer, with TWTD reporting that the Tractor Boys want to take the 22-year-old on loan.

The Premier League side are said to be keen on handing the young shot stopper more first team experience after the player just made five first team appearances this term for the Reds.

Therefore it appears that a loan spell to a Football League side is likely for the Irishman as he looks to take the next step on his development pathway.

Ipswich currently have Tomas Holy and Dai Cornell at their disposal between the sticks, however it is said that Paul Cook and co are looking to move the two keepers on this summer.

Town are unlikely to be the only club in for Kelleher, with the report going on to state that Sky Bet Championship clubs could also be interested in the player who has made nine senior appearances since moving to the club from Ringmahon Rangers in 2015.

The Tractor Boys have already signed Wes Burns and Lee Evans in recent days as Cook's recruitment drive kicks in at Portman Road.

The Verdict

I have been lucky enough to see Kelleher play live in more recent times and I have to say I was very impressed by the way in which he commands his area for a player of such a young age.

The next step for him is a move to the EFL on loan and for me, Ipswich would be the ideal destination for him this summer.

He needs to play in a league that is physical and testing and League One quite easily ticks those boxes.

Bringing in the Liverpool keeper would be another big statement of intent from Town, particularly if they get can get him ahead of higher league clubs.
