Sky Bet Championship outfit Ipswich Town are considering an emergency loan move for Manchester United starlet James Weir, a club insider from Ipswich Town has told Football League World.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been contracted to the Red Devils since July 2011, but has yet to make a senior appearance for the Premier League giants.
However, he managed 21 appearances in Manchester United’s title-winning under-21 season in 2014/15 as he continues to show that he has quality in abundance.
His ability to find a pass and his eye for goal is something that Ipswich Town are keen on as they look to bolster their squad to improve on their stuttering form this season.
Mick McCarthy will be hoping that the Manchester United youngster, who was formerly involved with his home-town club Preston North End, can become an ideal fit for his play-off chasing side.
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, the starlet was described by reserves coach Warren Joyce as a talented footballer. He said: “He needs a little bit more confidence but the lad is a clever footballer and he does finish well. He is clever when coming inside and he makes good runs that are hard to pick up.”
Ipswich Town will therefore be hoping that the young midfielder can build his confidence at Portman Road in a loan move that will likely last until January.
Whether or not a deal will be struck remains to be seen, but it is apparent that the Championship club are interested in securing the services of the youngster.
