Ipswich Town are said to be closing in on a loan deal for their former player Bersant Celina, as per a recent report by the East Anglian Daily Times.

The 24-year-old currently plies his trade for Dijon FCO in the French second division and is now on the brink of completing a sensational return to Portman Road on a season long loan deal.

Celina is no stranger to the Ipswich Town faithful, having previously starred for the club back in the 2017/18 campaign whilst on loan from Manchester City and is sure to be a welcome addition this season as Town look to get back to winning ways under Paul Cook.

The deal is said to have been agreed in principle between the two clubs and now the Kosovan international is seemingly set to head to England to undergo his medical.

Celina scored eight goals during his previous spell with the Tractor Boys and will be keen to make a similar impact this term as they look to secure promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship.

The Verdict

The return of Celina is sure to give everyone at Ipswich a big lift after their recent results and it is expected that he would be a regular starter under Cook moving forwards.

He certainly has the talent to be playing in a much higher division than League One and should help to provide the match winning difference that they have been greatly lacking so far.

The Ipswich squad is all so new and patience is required amongst the fanbase if they are to achieve their goal of gaining promotion as things won't click overnight.

However given time, Town certainly have a great chance of going up automatically, with a few wins on the bounce sure to trigger a lot more belief amongst the group over the next few months.
