Manager of Sky Bet Championship side Ipswich Town, Mick McCarthy, is eyeing a move for Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan, according to the Irish Sun.

Reports say Horgan is widely viewed as one of the best players in the country and is currently on the fringes of the Republic of Ireland national team.

The 24-year-old's prolific form as seen him being watched by numerous scouts but Ipswich boss McCarthy is keeping a very close eye on the winger.

The Irish season finishes at the end of November and he is set to go watch Horgan in person, having had outstanding reports from scouts.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international joined Dundalk from Cork City in 2013 after unsuccessful trials with Barnsley and Torquay United. Daryl Horgan has 20 goals to his name in 80 appearances since the move three years ago.

It is also reported that Horgan is keen to extend his contract in Ireland as he currently enjoys playing for Dundalk at the moment, but Mick McCarthy may persuade the winger to do otherwise.
