Ipswich Town were denied a massive three points in the East Anglia derby against Norwich City with practically the last action of the game, but boss Mick McCarthy was quick to praise his players.

Luke Chambers' late goal had looked like handing Town their first win over their fierce rivals in 16 attempts but Timm Klose had other plans and tied the contest in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

The result leaves both sides rooted in mid-table in the Sky Bet Championship and does little to enhance the concept that either of these two might trouble the teams vying for a play-off place.

Given their troubles in beating the Canaries, however, this doesn't look like a bad point for Ipswich and McCarthy in particular was satisfied with his charges.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "I was delighted with the team's performance.

"They were terrific, especially in the first half and even when we had to weather the storm, we got our blocks in and defended really well.

"I can't say I am overly sure where they got the additional five minutes from at the end but they have nicked an equalising goal. In that situation we switched off but overall my players were excellent."

Ipswich will look to get back to winning ways when high-flying Cardiff City visit Portman Road on Tuesday evening, in a game that the Tractor Boys could really do with winning if they have a realistic chance of securing a play-off berth.
