Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy was able to provide updates on a number of his players this afternoon, in an interview with the club’s official site released via a series of Tweets.

With a large amount of Tractor Boys stars carrying injuries, the long-serving manager was able to confirm that defender Jonas Knudsen should be fit to play this weekend when the club travel to Leeds United.

Adam Webster is back in training following his layoff, but will not be available for selection this weekend.

Youngster Flynn Downes will miss the tie having tweaked his thigh in training, and midfielder Luke Hyam had to leave training early, making him a doubt for the weekend’s clash at Elland Road.

McCarthy also shared that he hoped to have both Emyr Huws and Teddy Bishop back after in the international break, with ties scheduled to be played during the first week of October.

The Verdict

Injuries have seemingly mounted up at Portman Road, and McCarthy was able to offer a mixed bag updates on how his players are progressing.

Luke Hyam will be a big miss if he is forced to sit out on Saturday, and the news that Adam Webster has returned to training will come as a huge relief to fans.

Huws and Bishop are still a few weeks away from a return, but news that there is light at the end of the tunnel for the pair will come as a relief to all involved with the club.
