Ipswich Town and Luton Town are in a race to sign highly-rated Concord Rangers striker Temi Babalola, according to allnigeriasoccer.com.

The former Brentwood Town frontman joined National League South outfit Concord in February having previously turned out for other Non-League sides Woodford Town and Romford.

According to the report, the 19-year-old featured for Luton's Under-21s in a friendly match against Slough Town back in September, whilst Ipswich have been keeping a close eye on the attacker.

Babalola played 90 minutes in Concord's agonising FA Cup first-round exit on penalties at the hands of League Two Stevenage on Saturday - although the frontman was replaced just before the spot-kicks.

Both Ipswich and Luton have made impressive starts to their respective league campaigns - with the Tractor Boys second in League One, whilst the Hatters have been the surprise package in the Championship, and sit 10th after 11 games.

The Verdict

Babalola is obviously highly thought of in Non League, but a move to one of these does seem quite surprising.

He's playing in the sixth-tier of English football, so either Ipswich or Luton would appear some way above the level he's currently playing at.

But his dream is to play for Arsenal and clearly he's an ambitious young boy, so good luck to him.
