Ipswich Town have had an underwhelming season and they hit a new low on Tuesday night.

A pathetic performance turned even worse as non-league Lincoln City scored a deserved injury time winner to send Ipswich crashing out of the FA Cup in embarrassing style.

This heaped further pressure on Mick McCarthy, whose job has been under scrutiny for quite a while now.

The former Wolves boss even admitted that he may face the sack, further fuelling rumours that this Lincoln clash could be his last in charge of the Tractor Boys.

If Ipswich Town are planning on sacking Mick McCarthy, they will need to already be drawing up a list of potential replacements so that the new manager can bring in his own players this January.

With a limited number of available options, here are 2 managers that I believe Ipswich should be targeting as Mick McCarthy's replacement.

Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew was recently sacked by Crystal Palace but he has vast experience of managing in the top two divisions, with the likes of West Ham and Newcastle before his stint in South London.

The 55-year-old would be an optimistic appointment and a real statement of intent by Ipswich.

Pardew might be holding out for a "better" job but Ipswich could be sold as a good long-term project to get behind.

Gary Rowett

Gary Rowett is one of the most in-demand managers at the moment.

The promising young manager was inexplicably sacked by Birmingham and they have suffered the consequences since as Zola has not won a game yet.

Rowett worked very well with limited resources at Burton Albion and Birmingham and I imagine he'd replicate that success at Ipswich.
